The Gathering Place
“New Wine Ministries believes that churches are formed to change the world.”
From this principle the Gathering Place was born.
We are more than a traditional church building that is used only on Sunday and Wednesday nights. The Gathering Place is a center of community activity in the Meridian area.
All people regardless of human condition can find a place to rest, recover, and renew their spirit.
In “The Great Good Place”, sociologist Ray Oldenburg highlights the importance of “third places.” Oldenburg laments the loss of “third place” like the old country store and soda fountain and says that people need informal meeting places away from the concerns of work and home. Our goal is to help establish a third pace around the church building.
The Gathering Place’s philosophy is to bring together the non-believer and the believer into the same environment so they may build a stronger community.
Currently within the Gathering Place we offer; Banquet and Events Facilities, The Sidetrack Coffeehouse, ABE/GED Classes, Cocaine Anonymous meetings, The Book Exchange, Noah’s Ark Child Development Center, and Manna Culinary Center.
